The Kitty Treats Cookbook

Nice Book
This book contains very basic recipes with ingredients that can be found in any food store around the country. Directions were very clear and since the book is coated, it's very easy to clean. I would recommend this book.

very fun!!
This is a great treat book! All of the recipes are very easy to make and my cat loves them. I have 3 cats but two of them are very picky. I hav'nt tried all of them yet, but I'm sure there are a few they will like. A must for any cat lover who likes cooking!!

these recipes helped my cat and i love each other even more!
my kitty 'PUFF' and i, probably like most other pet owners, have a special loving relationship. When i first made some of these treats from the books recipes, 'PUFF' couldn't seem to get enough of them!!! She loved 'em!! but even more important to me was that i was putting some of myself into each and every treat she ate and enjoyed. somehow i feel she knows there's some of me in every one. maybe that's why she loves them more than any i ever bought for her. i know any pet owner will get so much more satisfaction from making and feeding these home made treats to their cats than simply going out and buying the commercial kind.

Paramedic Care: Trauma Emergencies, (5 Volume Set)

What The Profession has been waiting for, and needed
This 5 book series is the premier series on the market today. A very thorough foundation can be layed through this series of books.

There are already a number of good "paramedic textbooks" on the market today but they do lack the depth that is required to produce fully capable paramedics. A 1500 pg book just isn't enough to equip a paramedic with the necessary tools to provide advanced care in the field. it's also a pain to the students who have to buy numerous supplementary titles to make up for what's not in the book. This 5 book series does a lot to reduce the need for supplementary books, though the need is still there. With over 2700p. of information this series has to be the leading in the industry.

Every text has good intro and patient assessment areas but lack in the trauma/medical/special section. This book provides a great section on each of those titles. The cardiology section is much improved from past books. I found that much of the information in the medical and trauma sections are taken straight from AMLS and BTLS/PHTLS texts. It seems with every new version of book that the need for specific area books is reducing. I no longer even read my BTLS book because it's all covered in this series.

With clear art work and pictures it's easy to grasp the concept on many of the more difficult issues and topics. The wording used makes the books even more user friendly. The "key" items that are outlined in the margins are very helpful. I wasn't sure about how well the information would be layed out when I first read the outlines but it was actually beneficial to the learning process to cover things like advanced airway, early.

These books are not cheap, but they are the best on the market that I've seen. I am very happy with these 5 volumes. The industry has produces many excellent paramedics and that can only increase with books like these.

These books need to be seriously reviewed by paramedic instructors and institutions to see if they would be most beneficial to the students. Unlike many paramedic programs, since these sections are broken into 5 different books, you don't need to lug that 1000+ pg book to class every day for months or years.

I love these titles more than any other paramedic texts in my library.Somebody finally thought to break the books down into smaller sections. I was getting really strong lugging around massive books, but this is a nice relief. Thanks to Dr Bledsoe and other writers for making revolutionary texts like these to help aid the profession and raise the bar for all of us.

The fact that the package arrived at my Toronto home just 5 business days after I placed the order was an added bonus.

Excellent Foundation for Paramedicine!
An Excellent set that finally manages to cover all the topics needed for a firm foundation in Paramedicine. Explainations and visuals are insync with each other, alot of other Paramedic books out there are quite confusing. Topics covered are relative to the field and explained as straight forward as medicine can get. Paramedic books are often overwelling in presentation or they lack general knowledge and information needed. It was a organized wonderfully and easy to find selective topic. Great for old and new EMS personel. Many Paramedic courses have adopted this 5 volume set as their main text. Brady has provided an excellent informational and educational set of text books. My Basic book was not as easy as these are to take in. Brady created 5 great volumes; Introduction to adavance prehospital care, Patient assesment, Medical Emergencies, Trauma Emergencies and Special Considerations / Operations. They had an excellent staff to compose such high quality textbooks. You can't go wrong with this set of books!

Superb!
Once again, Bledsoe, et. al., have done a magnificent job. I am a working paramedic, and I purchased Paramedic Care to get up to speed on the new curriculum. I am impressed. I believe emergency physicians could even learn something from this series.

I am very pleased to see the expansion of the scope of practice for paramedics. The credibility of EMS professionals continues to grow - due in part to Bledsoe, et. al., and the many, many students who have learned from their textbooks.

A Parenting Manual That Makes Sense & is Proven!
We have used Mac Bledsoe's philosophies in his book, "Parenting with Dignity" as a tool in our "very strong willed" granddaughter's life. She has made a complete turnaround and is an extremly happy and well adjusted child...Thank you Mr. Bledsoe!

It is our common practice to give this wonderful and helpful book to all expecting parents in our circle of friends and family. "Parenting with Dignity" will be the most thoughtful and valuable gift you can give at any baby shower!

What a Terrific Book!
Parenting With Dignity is one of the best written books I have ever read. You will be amazed at the parenting philosphies that will help you in raising your children....whether you are just enhancing your own parenting skills or if you are at your wit's end with different parenting techniques that do not work for your child. Mac is a wonderful speaker and that has definitely crossed over into his writing. You will enjoy the personal details of Mac's life as you find they will relate to you and your own children. You won't want to put the book down until you have read through it once....then keep going back for repetition! This world will be a better place if all of us parents read and act on what we have learned!

This book is a must read for all parents
Parenting with Dignity by Mac Bledsoe is a must read for all parents. I am the father of three children and have been searching for years for good parenting advice. Unlike many other resources I have tried, this book gives you real answers and provides real solutions to everyday problems and challenges that all parents face. I am applying the concepts Mac discusses in his book and already seeing positive results at home with my children. Thank you Mac Bledsoe.

A hit with my JRT
Baked the "howl" wheat biscuits for my Jack Russell terrier this weekend, substituting missing link powder for the cornmeal. He really seems to like these biscuits. I plan to try the other recipes also.

Pleasing the Poodle Palate...
is exactly what the recipes in this book did! The bones are the perfect size for small training treats for any dog, and the recipes lend themselves well to adaptation (a batch of apple doggie bones, based on the veggie bone recipe but substituting two cups of grated apples for the veggies, pure unsweetened apple juice for the water, and with the addition of 1/4 c. molasses) are baking in the oven as I write this. My Standard Poodle knows what the cookie cutter looks like; once she sees the bones go in the oven, she walks by it every few minutes to check their progress and gives me beseeching looks if they're not ready...

Both my dogs (and many of my friends' and coworkers' dogs) give this book their enthuiastic howl of approval!

These biscuits are doggone good!
From whole wheat and vegetarian bones to BBQ bones, this book has a good variety of choices for your dog. The author gives tips for making perfect dog biscuits and also encourages adding your dogs favorite flavors to her recipes. Of the biscuits I have made so far, my dog has begged for seconds, which is more than I can say for most of the biscuits I have have bought for him at the store.

Good decisions from good parenting
This book was outstanding! It is written in an enjoyable fashion - totally entertaining. It is agreat book for parents and children to read together. It contains great parenting tips woven into a wonderful story about growing-up. It illustrates how the ideas in a child's head will cause them to make strong, productive, positive decisions as they travel the journey of childhood, young adulthood, and parenthood.

Great biography
This was a great biography and is good for children to read. It tells about Drew Bledsoe's complete football career as well as his childhood and family life. You feel like you know Drew Bledsoe personally after finishing this book.

Nobody Left to Ask: A Memoir of Family

Nobody Left to Ask
This small book creates a big and clear picture of life not easily reproduced. A time that could easily be lost forever if it were not for Mr. Link's clear recollection and superbly comfortable writing style. Reading this book was a great experience. I could almost smell and hear the times returning when my parents were young and experiencing their life's events for the first time. Thanks, Mr. Link. I look forward to reading your next book.

Nobody Left to Ask by Phil Link
I love this book because it confirms that the heart is the warm pocket where beloved people and pets reside forever, even after they have died. Phil Link is a legendary talker, but his writing is poetic and evocative and this little book left me wanting more, more, more!

Death by Journalism? One Teacher's Fateful Encounter with Political Correctness
Published in Hardcover by John F Blair Pub (March, 2002)
Author: Jerry Bledsoe
Average review score:

A Must for Journalism Students and Media Watchers
Bledsoe does an incredible job detailing the history and background of this media fiasco, including the toll it took on one seemingly honorable man. This is the true story of Jack Purdue, an amatuer civil war historian tapped to teach a community outreach course at a North Carolina community college, and his encounter with an ambitious young newspaper reporter. Bledsoe gives us a great feel for Jack's personal character and how that character was called into question by the reporter, who apparently fabricated much of his news story to further his career. This book should be required reading for every journalism student, not just for the specific lessons on how not to write a story, but to give that student a feel for the power he or she wields because of the public's trust in mainstream media. In the end this reporter's seeming misdeeds may very well have cost Jack Purdue his life. The only reason this book didnt get five stars is that at times it was a bit of chore to get through, and did get bogged down in details. This is not Bledsoe's fault though, as the nature of the subject matter doesn't really lend itself to a page turner of a suspenseful book and some people may really enjoy knowing every detail about this event. One last issue is that there were apparently videotapes of the class that were never released by Purdue, which could have conclusively exonerated him and his class. The fact those tapes were not released to the public (even when Purdue's character was being trashed in the media for something he apparently did not say), nor has Bledsoe seemed to have reviewed them, leaves the reader wondering whether he is getting the full story even from Bledsoe.

Al Guyant
Jerry Bledsoe shows what happens when journalists misuse their vast power, sometimes by hitting too hard and then other times failing to act at all - - including failing to admit horrible mistakes and not doing much to offset the damage. Every reporter in the world should read this book and have it be a guide to prudent journalism.

Should be required reading for every journalism student
Rhonda Winters was the director of a satellite campus for a North Carolina community college who offered an adult community-outreach course on the Civil War, a course of studies organized by regional historian and preservationist Jack Perdue. The course was almost finished (and the students were both learning the material and enjoying experience) when a reporter wrote an article falsely claiming that Winters was teaching the slaves in the South were happy with their condition. Originally published in a local paper, the defamatory article was picked up by the Associated Press and reprinted worldwide, bring Winters a barrage of vituperative news coverage defaming both her and the college, and resulted in an investigation by the U.S. Commission on Civile Rights, as well as the cancellation of the course. Even when students, instructors, and college officials clearly proclaimed the article to be false, the newspaper's editors backed the reporter. In the end, the newspaper's deceptive view prevailed, despite a wealth of evidence laid out in the pages of Death By Journalism? Here is a focused spotlight on one of journalism's most irresponsible episodes, a scenario that did real harm to real people and discredited the profession to all who knew where the truth really lay. Put very simply, Death By Journalism? should be required reading for every journalism student in every college and university in this country.

The Doggy Bone Cookbook

If dogs could read and cook this is the book they would buy.
If dogs could read and cook this is the book they would buy, and then us humans would get to sit back and enjoy the smell of fresh DOGGY BONES with expectations of mouthwatering treats. This book is creative and packaged well and the bones are good too boot. Plus it makes a great gift to other conscientious dog owners. I've given several as gifts only to run into the person later who said they gave them to others, who gave them to others, who...well you get the point.

Quick, easy to make recipes your dog will love!
Although "The Doggy Bone Cookbook" is small, it is jam-packed with quick, easy to make recipes for natural dog biscuits that are sure to please even the most fussiest canine palettes! It even comes with a cute plastic doggy bone cookie cutter. I have already made four surefire hits from this book - Cinnabone, Pea-mutt Butter, Garlicky and Cheese, and Bark-B-Que, and my one-year-old Keeshond gobbles them right up. The ten recipes are easy and quick to assemble (making them quite appropriate for children to make!) and require minimal healthy ingredients for maximum taste. The book also includes helpful tips such as how to cook the biscuits to just the right consistency (something I had had problems with in the past). If you enjoying cooking, and care about feeding your dog foods and treats that contain natural ingredients (with no chemicals, food dyes or preservants), then this book is perfect for you!

The Doggy Bone Cookbook
Michele Bledsoe's cookbook is such a prize! I've ordered several -- one for myself, and one for a close dog-lovin' friend, who was thrilled with it. I wondered how the biscuits would turn out, and if the dogs would like them.... Well, I was very surprised and pleased to see that the bones looked like the ones professionally made and sold in stores!I couldn't believe that they looked so good, and were so easy to cut. Also, I found that I could roll the batter thinner and make smaller ones for my dog that's on a diet. (The "smaller collar diet bone" has been perfect for him!) And, there's just something so special about seeing a cookie pan full of your pup's favorite bones come out of the oven, while he sits there and drools waiting for them to cool!!

I've made bones and given some in gift bags, and the recipients were always so appreciative to get "homemade" snacks for their puppies!

The book makes a perfect Christmas gift for those petlover friends on your list! Or, send it to your pet friends to give to their owners...!

God, Dr. Buzzard and the Bolito Man: A Saltwater Geechee Talks About Life on Sapelo Island
Published in Hardcover by Doubleday (15 August, 2000)
Authors: Christena Bledsoe and Cornelia Walker Bailey
Average review score:

Fascinating
The Golden Isles of Georgia are mysterious and fascinating. The Spanish moss, tabby walls, the "shout" of the Sea Island Singers, and cloudy past reach out to visitors today. The author of this book, a salt-water Geechee, grew up on Sapelo. Her story is wonderfully interesting. The beliefs of the slaves' descendants were so little changed for so many years. Traditions born in western Africa are still hanging on to life even today on Sapelo. I hope the government, even in the name of saving the environment, never succeeds in taking the land away from the Geechee families who lived such true lives there. Their life deserves to continue as long as their faith lives.

A magical book to read and re-read.
Part memoir, part cultural history, part plea on behalf of a fragile culture, God, Dr. Buzzard, and the Bolito Man is as affecting as the best magic realism. You do not simply read it, you savor it and absorb it into your very soul.

In the book, Cornelia Bailey, resident griot of Sapelo Island off the Georgia coast, spins the story of her growing up in that place and in a time when lives were governed equally by religion, magic, and chance. She admits us deep into the culture of her proud people and introduces us to folkways strong enough to have survived the Middle Passage and the centuries since. So it is with infinite sadness we learn that the forces of progress are rendering these same folkways as fragile as a paper-thin fig shell that washes onto the beach.

It goes without saying that God, Dr. Buzzard, and the Bolito Man will appeal to cultural historians, anthropologists, naturalists, and environmentalists. The book's strongest appeal, however, will be to lovers of lyrical prose -- and to anyone who delights in the sheer magic of the way words fall on the ear and follow one another on a page.

This is a special book, one that should find a home on every reader's short shelf of well-thumbed volumes that are read and referenced time and again.

A book that captures your heart.
God, Dr. Buzzard, and the Bolito Man transports the reader to the Georgia sea islands. You swear you can smell the marsh, hear the sea birds cry and taste the sweet potatoes. The writing is so pure and the people so true that you come away afraid of Mama Lizzie, furious at Bukra and proud of Grandma when she faces down the deacons. The issues the book tackles are important - ownership of the land, the insidious effects of slavery, the origins of sea island culture in Africa - but it is also a book that captures your heart. A must for anyone who is interested in people. Highly recommended.

Tracks in the Snow
Published in School & Library Binding by Holiday House (June, 1997)
Author: Lucy Jane Bledsoe
Average review score:

Tracks in the Snow
Tracks in the Snow is about a ten-year-old girl named Erin. It starts when her babysitter, Amy, doesn't come to babysit one night. Erin knows that something is wrong but no one believes her. Not her parents, not the police, not her teacher . . . However the oppurtunity to find Amy (Erin is determined she went to live in the old miner's cabin in the woods) comes up when she and Tiffany decide to do a project on animal tracks. Erin decides they should go into the woods to look for the tracks (and also Amy). However if she wants to keep looking she has to tell Tiffany the truth about why they're here. Tiffany believes Erin, unlike everyone else, and they keep looking for where Amy could be. But then a blizzard comes unexpectedly and Erin and Tiffany are stuck in the woods. Will they ever find Amy? And - more importantly - will they ever be able to get out of the woods?

A great book for all 9 and 10 year old boys and girls
Tracks in the Snow was a really enjoyable book. It is about two regular girls who go off into the woods by themselves. They are supposed to be tracking animals for a science project. However, one of the girls is also secretly looking for her lost babysitter who is supposedly hiding out in an old cabin in the woods. The two totally different girls survive in the woods for two days after they got caught in a snow storm. The girls help each other and find a fort to sleep in. They also go ice fishing and survive on fish. At the end of the story, both girls become friends.
I really liked this book because it has a lot of suspense and mystery. The book is very well written with a lot of very descriptive words. I really could picture the scenes so well in my mind that I felt like I was there! I highly recommend this book for all nine and ten year old girls and boys who like adventure and survival books.

Great book!
I just read this book out loud to my 11-year-old niece for the fun of it (though she could have read it herself). She squealed with delight with the adventure and suspense at every turn. "I LOVE this book!" she kept saying over and over. "This book is SOOOOOO good!" I couldn't put it down either and we stayed up late that night gripped by the book and finished it the next day. Its discussions of tracks, snow and weather conditions, and how to be responsible in the outdoors are credibly accurate yet seamlessly woven into the story. And the messages that we are capable of caring for others, believing in ourselves, thinking our way through difficulties, and fully meeting life's challenges are invaluable for children, especially girls.
